Taking the ETS Train from Alor Setar to KL Sentral is the fastest way to travel from Alor Setar to Kuala Lumpur, taking around five hours to complete the trip.
The new Electric Train Services are now the only way to travel by train to KL from Alor Setar as the older Intercity Express Trains have now all been cancelled.

New Alor Setar to KL Train Timetable valid from the 15th of January 2022 into 2023:
EP 9273: (ETS Platinum) Departs Alor Setar at 08:08 - Arrives KL Sentral at 13:04 (Operates Daily).
EP 9275: (ETS Platinum) Departs Alor Setar at 10:13 - Arrives KL Sentral at 15:09 (Operates Daily).
EP 9277: (ETS Platinum) Departs Alor Setar at 14:18 - Arrives KL Sentral at 19:14 (Operates Daily).
EG 9425: (ETS Gold) Departs Alor Setar at 16:29 - Arrives KL Sentral at 21:33 (Operates Daily).
EP 9279: (ETS Platinum) Departs Alor Setar at 17:23 - Arrives KL Sentral at 22:23 (Operates Daily).
All Platinum service trains are now operated by the newer ETS2 trains that include a Business Class carriage.

The ticket prices for seats to KL are only available in all the same class - there are no First class or Second class carriages on any of the ETS services (the new ETS2 trains now have a Business Class carriage).
ETS Gold Trains cost: Adult 70 RM - Child 39 RM
ETS Platinum Trains cost: Adult 93 RM - Child 51 RM
Please note: Fares will now vary from those shown above as KTM now has a Flexi Fares system in place (book as far in advance as you can for cheaper tickets).

You can buy your tickets to KL usually up to a couple of months in advance of your departure date. However, sometimes advance ticket are only available a few weeks in advance.
Tickets can be purchased from the Alor Setar railway station or any other KTMB railway station.
