Timetable KTM Train from Singapore to Penang

There is one daily train from Singapore to Penang (the Ekspres Rakyat) that now leaves from JB Sentral railway station (just north of Singapore) in the morning and takes approximately 13 hours to reach Penang's railway station on the mainland at Butterworth.

From Butterworth train station it is just a short walk to the ferry terminal and the regular ferry over to George Town on Penang Island.

This service is cancelled from 9th May 2016.

From this date you will have to travel by two separate trains:

A Shuttle train from JB to Gemas, than catch a new fast ETS train from Gemas to Butterworth.

**Change of KTM Singapore Trains : From 1st July 2015 all Intercity Trains will no longer be departing from Woodlands Railway Station in Singapore and will now start from the nearby JB Sentral Station in Johor Bahru, just across the border in Malaysia.

A new Shuttle Train Service will now take passengers from Singapore to JB Sentral.

Tickets for this service from Singapore cost SGD 5.

From Singapore to JB, Shuttle Services depart 10 times a day.

Trains take just 5 minutes to get to JB.

There are two other trains a day that leave JB for Kuala Lumpur.
