Kuala Lumpur Johor Bahru Train Schedule & Fares

If you want to travel on the KTM Kuala Lumpur Johor Bahru Train services, currently you will have to take two services.

One between KL and Gemas.

One between Gemas to JB Sentral.

Trains from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru

The quickest way to travel from KL to JB by train is to first take one of the new, fast, Electric Train Services (ETS) from KL Sentral Railway Station to Gemas.

At Gemas the new dual tracks end, so you will have to take a connecting Shuttle train for the last leg down to Johor state, terminating at JB Sentral Station.

Trains from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur

Travelling in the other direction from JB to KL by train, you will first have to take the Shuttle services to Gemas, then connect to the ETS services from here.

Ticket Prices for the Kl Sentral - JB Sentral Trains

For this trip, you will need to buy two separate tickets.

Taking the trains via Gemas will cost:

Tickets for the ETS train between Gemas and KL Sentral cost from:

  • Adult Fare - 31 RM.
  • Child Fare - 21 RM.

Tickets for the Shuttle trains between Gemas and JB Sentral cost from:

  • Adult Fare - 21 RM.
  • Child Fare - 15 RM.

Please note: Now KTM have a Flexi Fare system in place, the price of tickets shown above should be used as a guide only. Ticket prices now vary depending on how far in advance you are booking your seats and if you are travelling during a Peak or Off-Peak time of the day, week or period of the year.

These services are often very busy, so making an advance booking is essential.

Train tickets in Malaysia go on sale as and when KTM release them - This could mean a few months in advance or just a few weeks.

Advance tickets for any of the ETS or Shuttle trains can be bought at any railway station within Peninsular Malaysia or online directly from the KTM Website, or through an online ticketing agent.
