You will need to take the JB Sentral to Gemas Shuttle Train to connect to the new fast ETS Trains (Electric Train Services) which currently start from Gemas Railway Station.
This is due to the fact that the Dual Electrified Track currently only starts in Gemas and the final section to Johor Baru is still under construction.
New Johor Bahru to Gemas train schedule from the 20th of May 2021:
Please note:ERT 26 currently operates on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.
|Train No||ERT 26||ES 42||ES 44||ES 46|
|Johor Bahru JB Sentral||19:15||-||-||20:35|
|Pulau Sebang / Tampin||-||-||-||-|
Once you arrive at Gemas Station by Shuttle Train, the connecting ETS Trains will depart shortly afterwards.
From Gemas, you can get to anywhere on the new electrified rail tracks (Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Penang), all the way up to the Malaysian / Thai border station of Padang Besar.
These Shuttle services offer 2nd class (Superior Class) seats and cost 21 RM for Adults and 15 RM for Children.
Train number 26 is the JB to Tumpat Intercity Express Train (Ekspres Rakyat Timuran) and has Premier Class seats available, costing 38 RM for Adults and 23 RM for Children.
We recommend you purchase your tickets as far in advance as possible as trains in Malaysia can easily fill up during holidays and busy weekends.
You can buy train tickets from the JB Sentral Train Station's ticket counters or any other KTMB station within Peninsular Malaysia.
You can also book tickets online using the KTMB website or by using an online agent.
Train tickets are available to book for varying periods in the future - it all depends on when KTM release the tickets for sale and if they are planning a new timetable.
At the same time as you purchase your Shuttle tickets, you should also purchase you connecting ETS train tickets as you do not want to turn up at Gemas without an onward ticket.
To do this you will have to make two separate purchases as currently, you cannot buy just one ticket to your final destination from JB.
