KL Penang Train Timetable

There is now just one daily KTM Intercity Trains between Kuala Lumpur and Penang, leaving from KL Sentral train station and arriving at Butterworth train station, located on the mainland and just a 15 minute ferry ride over to George Town on Penang island.

The night train between KL and Hat Yai is no longer stopping at Butterworth.



All Intercity Trains are cancelled from 19/05/2016 with only ETS Trains operating to Penang from this date.

Ekspres Rakyat = Train Number 2

Senandung Langkawi Express = Train Number 20 (no longer stopping at Butterworth)

Arriving on the KL Penang Train at Butterworth Station

When you arrive at Butterworth railway station, the ferry to Penang Island is less than 5 minutes walk away (just follow the signs).

The Butterworth bus station is also here if you want to connect to buses going further north to places like Alor Setar or Kuala Perlis for the ferry over to Langkawi.
