If you want to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar as quickly as possible, the KTM ETS Train from KL Sentral to Alor Setar in Kedah is now the fastest way to go overland.
These new fast trains can travel at speeds of 140 Kilometres an hour, much quicker than a bus and taking half the time of the old diesel Intercity services that used to operate on this route.
Trains leave from the main station in Kuala Lumpur, KL Sentral, but you can also catch these services from the old KL station (Terminal KTM), departing just five minutes later than the times shown below.
