The Komuter Train fare / ticket price (tambang / harga tiket) from Butterworth to Sungai Petani is just RM 3.60.
The high-speed ETS Trains that travel between Butterworth and Padang Besar have now all been cancelled from the start of June 2018 - as from this date there is no option but to take the KTM Komuter trains.
Sungai Petani Railway Station is located right in the centre of town, with plenty of accommodation options close by.

When you arrive at Butterworth Railway Station (Penang Sentral), you can easily walk to the ferry terminal in just a few minutes where you can catch regular boats over to George Town on Penang Island.
The Butterworth Bus Terminal is also a few minutes walk away in the new Penang Sentral complex.
