There are two KTM Komuter Utara Routes in this part of Malaysia:

1) the Padang Rengas (one stop south of Taiping) to Bukit Mertajam / Butterworth Penang route.

2) the route from Butterworth to the Malaysia/Thailand border station of Padang Besar.

To the North:

Taiping to Kamunting KTM train fare = RM 1.00

Taiping to Bagan Serai KTM train fare = RM 4.40

Taiping to Parit Buntar KTM train fare = RM 5.00

Taiping to Nibong Tebal KTM train fare = RM 5.30

Booking Komuter Train Tickets from Taiping

KTM Komuter train tickets can only be purchased on the day of travel.

Tickets are sold at the station ticket counters which can get busy during the rush hours.

Seating on commuter trains is on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you want to guarantee a seat, you will have to travel on the more expensive ETS trains.
