On this page you will find information on the KTM Kuala Lumpur Singapore Train between KL Sentral railway station in Kuala Lumpur (KL) Malaysia and Woodlands railway station in Singapore (SG):

*****Change of KTM Trains to Singapore : From 1st July 2015 all Intercity Trains to Singapore will now terminate at JB Sentral Railway Station in Johor Bahru, just across the border from Singapore.

A new Shuttle Train Service will now take passengers from JB to Singapore.

These trains take just 5 minutes to cross over the Causeway.

Tickets cost RM 5 (from JB) or SGD 5 (from Singapore).

Shuttle Trains depart JB for Woodlands Station in Singapore many times a day.

From Singapore to JB, Shuttle Services depart slightly less frequently.

Train Times from KL Sentral to Singapore

Please Note : All these Intercity Trains have been cancelled from the 19th May 2016 (including the popular night sleeper train) as the new ETS Trains take over from the slower diesel trains.

From this date you will have to take:

  1. A fast ETS train from KL Sentral to Gemas.
  2. Then connect to a Shuttle train from Gemas to JB Sentral.

Train Schedule from 10th October 2015 for trains from KL to JB Sentral:

  • Train Number 21 (Ekspres Peninsular) Departs KL at --:-- - Arrives JB Sentral at --:--.
  • Train Number 1 (Ekspres Rakyat) Departs KL at --:-- - Arrives JB Sentral at --:--.
  • Train Number 25 (Senandung Sutera) Departs KL at --:-- - Arrives JB Sentral at --:--.

Train 13 will no longer be operating and is replaced by the Ekspres Peninsular Train 21.


Trains 21 originates in Hat Yai, 25 in Ipoh, while train 1 originates in Butterworth Penang.


Train Times from Singapore Woodlands to Kuala Lumpur

Please Note : All these Intercity Trains have been cancelled from the 19th May 2016 as the new ETS Trains take over from the slower diesel trains.

From this date you will have to take:

A Shuttle train from JB to Gemas.

Then connect to a fast ETS train from Gemas to KL Sentral.

Train number 2 continues on to Butterworth in Penang, 20 to Hat Yai in Thailand and train 25 to Ipoh.

How much do Tickets on the Kuala Lumpur Singapore Train Cost?

Now trains are terminating and originating at JB Sentral, you no longer have to worry about the strange two currency system that made travel from Singapore more than two and a half times more expensive than it was from JB.

Below are the train ticket prices between KL, JB and SG:

ETS fares from KL to Gemas are:

Adult RM 31 - Child RM 20

Tickets from Gemas to JB cost:

Adult RM 21 - Child RM 15

The Shuttle to Singapore costs:

5 RM for all.

The Shuttle train from Singapore costs:

5 SGD for all.

If you want to book your tickets in advance for either departing from KL Sentral or JB Sentral, there is no need to visit the stations, as you can book your train tickets online from the Malaysia Railways (KTMB) own website or from an online ticket agent.
